Our iconic mountain is an enjoyable afternoon walk for anyone of good fitness. The easier approach is from the Ruapuke side of the mountain. The Te Toto approach is quite a bit more challenging.
The views from the top are impressive, on a clear day you can see Mt Taranaki and of course most of Raglan and the harbour.
There has been a lot of work done in recent years to make the mountain predator free. Learn more about the walks and the pest control here http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/waikato/places/karioi-area/tracks/karioi-summit-tracks/ and https://karioimaunga.co.nz/
Take water, tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back and be prepared for the weather to change.
